Electric Strike Extension Lip – Lip Extension Plate for 12/24V Electric Strike

This electric strike extension lip fits our 12/24V electric strike and extends the strike lip so the latch lines up correctly on deeper or offset frames.

It gives the latch a smooth ramp to close against and helps the electric strike work reliably, preventing the door from bouncing or failing to latch. It is a small part, but on many aluminium and timber frames it makes the difference between a door that latches every time and one that is left insecure after closing. It also reduces wear on the latch and strike over time.

Where can I use this strike extension lip?

Choosing the right strike extension lip

Check the gap between your door and frame before ordering. If the latch misses the strike keep, an extension lip usually solves it.

Fitting tips

A strike extension lip screws to the face of your electric strike or keep, so it is a quick job. Remove the existing lip or faceplate screws, line the new lip up so the latch rides smoothly onto it, and fix it with the screws supplied. Close the door several times to check the latch engages cleanly every time. If the strike itself needs rewiring, isolate the power first and use a competent person. For more guidance, see the Electrical Safety First website.

Care and maintenance

Check your strike extension lip during routine maintenance. Keep it clean, make sure the fixing screws are tight and look for wear where the latch rides over it. A worn or bent lip can stop the door latching, so replace it early.
